2 minutes readThe Cape Verde islands made a big impression on us. Wonderful people, a great mix of African and Portuguese culture, super year-round weather, great hiking opportunities and incredible nature. We spent 10 days sailing around this beautiful archipelago before making a 9 days passage to the Canaries.
The trip was amazing. We’ve seen dolphins, turtles, whales, and even an owl. We’ve navigated using celestial navigation and swimming in the middle of the Atlantic. We’ve discovered the lost knowledge of El Hierro and learned loads about navigation, weather, and boat handling.
Sailing from Cape Verde to the Canaries is not a gentlemen’s task. On this route, you constantly pound against wind and current. But the adventurous crew made a fantastic job and everyone arrived safe and sound.
Thanks to everyone joining the trip and for making it a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
